Office chairs that are ergonomic and stylish

An office chair with a pedestal base plays a major role in the overall aesthetic of the room so why not incorporate a stylish office chair into your design? It is also important to consider your needs in terms of comfort and function. Depending on your preferences, you could choose an office chair with a high back providing suppot for your entire back and neck. The other option is a low-backed stool which will still maintain the balance in your body, or would you prefer an office chair with or without arms? Here at JYSK, we have a wide range of desk chairs in many different designs and price ranges. We offer everything from sleek swivel computer chairs that add a nice finish to your home workstation set-up, to advanced ergonomic conference models which provide the perfect support. You might also like our office chairs with pressure-relief memory foam, or perhaps a more practical faux leather chair. Why not try a chair mat to protect your floor or carpet from any scratches or marks from the wheels? In order to select the right office chair for you, it is important to consider the amount of time you spend in your home or workspace. If you frequently work from home, it is important to make ergonomic comfort a priority. Be sure to choose a work chair with several customisation options and ergonomic features that can be adjusted to your needs. There are a number of features that are good to have in mind before making a purchase.

• Adjustable - adjustment of seat height with raising/lowering lift function and adjustment of seat and backrest
• Upholstered backrest and seat - provides the most optimal support and seating comfort
• With or without armrests - can provide a more relaxed position in front of the computer if the arms rest on it
• Headrest - a relief for the neck muscles
• Tilt function - sit back and relax, instead of hanging over the desk
• Consider how much time you will spend at the desk - whether you need to game or work, and adjust the features accordingly. The more time you spend on your office chair, the more setting options there should be.

When you're sitting at a desk all day, your posture can often deteriorate causing you to lean and slump to feel more comfortable. An incorrect sitting posture can affect you in the long run. There is no one sitting position that is right for everyone. This is because everyone is built differently, but also because it is good to have variety when you sit on an office chair for extended periods. Remember to adjust your desk to fit the height of your office chair. You can advantageously choose a standing desk, so you can vary your working position during the day.

Below are some precautions you should take into consideration when sitting at a desk for a long period:

1. Your feet should be flat on the floor.
2. There should be room for a clenched fist between the backs of your knees and the front edge of the chair.
3. Legs and arms should be at a 90º angle.
4. Your desk should be two to three centimetres higher than your elbow when you have your side to the table and the arm at a 90º angle. Make sure you relax your shoulders when measuring
5. Avoid using the armrest if your chair has one unless you are sitting at a 90º angle. Otherwise, you risk lounging on the armrest.
6. Make sure you change position from time to time. Take a short walk or do some stretching exercises, if you are going to be sitting on your chair for the day.
